Inclusion in Saudi Arabia: Present Status and Suggestions for the Future
This paper presents an overview of inclusive education for students with disabilities and current educational placement options for students with a variety of disabilities in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it presents the results of some studies that investigated Saudi educators’ attitudes towards inclusion and some studies that examined the effectiveness of inclusion in Saudi Arabia. Obstacles that may hinder the implementation of successful inclusion practices in Saudi Arabia are discussed and suggestions to improve the implementation of inclusion in Saudi Arabia are provided.
A Synthesis of Empirical Research on Touch Point
Method to Teach Mathematics to Students with Special Needs
Math
difficulties are common among students with special needs. They are
significantly lower in problems-solving abilities, conceptual understanding,
and computation. The touch point method seems to be an effective method to
address underachievement in mathematics. This research synthesis studies the
effectiveness of the touch point method on teaching addition and subtraction
for students with special needs. The results indicate that the touch point
method could be effective for teaching addition and subtraction for students
with special needs. Using this method with students with ADHD is suggested. Also,
future research and limitations are discussed.
Research
Based Reading Instruction and Linguistically Diverse Students
According
to Pollard-Durodola, and Simmons (2009), around 72% of ELLs were below the
basic reading level in the fourth and eighth grades. Consequently, educators
who work with ELLs should take
into account regarding ELLs learning characteristics and second
language development and how they impact their learning. Then, they should know
the effective research-based interventions that may benefit ELLs.Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to summarize the findings of previous research about ELLs and how they could be used to guide teachers in their work.
Research Interests
My research interests focus on identifying students with learning disabilities (response to intervention [RTI]), developing Scientific Research-Based Intervention (SRBI ) for students with ADHD and LD, including students with disabilities in the general education classroom to the maximum extent, and transition of students with disabilities to postsecondary education.
