BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where I attended school. After completing my elementary and secondary education, I decided to pursue my Bachelor degree in Special Education because of my profound interest in the subject and how it could be implemented to make changes in the quality of life for those students who suffering from their disabilities. I then received my Bachelor in Special Education in 2002 from King Saud University, College of Education.

After graduation with my Bachelor degree, I was employed in the Special Education Profession for several years. During this challenging time, I taught students with learning disabilities (LD) at the elementary level as well as conducted several training courses for Special and General Education teachers. The training courses intended to enable the General and Special educators to work collaboratively in early identifying students with LD, diagnosing the condition, and then writing the appropriate Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student.

The last year of my teaching, I concurrently worked as a Special Education Teacher and Education Supervisor with the School District of Al-Ahassa Region. As an Education Supervisor, I was responsible for supervising and guidance of Fifteen Special Education Teachers. My objective was to enhance their professional capabilities so as to assist their students with LD in the learning process.

After working as Special Education Teacher for several years and Education Supervisor for one year, I have gained considerable experience in the field. Therefore, I started to look forward for advancement of my qualifications in the field of Special Education. Thus, when I received an offer for a Teaching Assistant’s position from the King Saud University, I grabbed it like my life depended on it! Reason being that this position comes with the absolute opportunity to seek graduate education at the expense of the University and return to join its Faculty.

I looked at this position as a bridge to my desirable career of an academic and research scholar. It will expend my knowledge about my interests in the field of Special education. I will not only obtain an invaluable foundation of my interests in the field of Special Education, but I will also deepen my knowledge and increase my experience in the field of Special Education by studying some courses and conducting some research. In addition, it will provide me with essential tools that will help me to participate in improving the Special Education services in my country.

In March 2008, I arrived to the United State to study English as a second language and complete my master degree. Now, I completed my master degree in Special Education from The University of Northern Colorado, Greeley and I am currently working on my doctoral degree in Special Education at Kent State University …
